This is an assignment for our Black and White and One Color class where we tell a story of a defining moment of our protagonist Jesse’s life.

Defining moment: Heartbreak

In this story, Jesse deals with the heartbreak of losing his unborn son due to the reckless behavior of his wife Hayley. After finding out that he is going to have a baby boy, an excited Jesse prepares fervently for the arrival of his new born. While Jesse is working hard for his child, Hayley disregards his efforts and continues drinking, smoking and eating junk food. Despite Jesse’s efforts, he was unable to change Hayley from sabotaging their child. Because of Hayley’s reckless behavior, Jesse loses his son in a miscarriage. Throughout the story, Jesse’s love and anticipation for his unborn son drives his actions. When Jesse is told of the death of his unborn son, it completely breaks him. Everything he has worked towards the past nine months came to naught. This heartbreak pushes Jesse over the edge, leading to his decision to murder Hayley.
